+ 4 ways to remain indispensable with AI

There was a glorious moment in time a few years ago when I felt like the only person in the world who knew about Screen Studio.
Every time I’d post my work people would comment saying “how the heck are you making this video??”

Tbh I was hesitant to share my secret because it felt like such a cheat code 😄
The tool was so easy to use that I knew my alpha would disappear the second it became mainstream.
Sure enough, now you see these videos everywhere…..
So why am I sharing this now?
Well, I believe there’s a similar opportunity for designers to stand out by using Unicorn Studio 👀

This isn’t sponsored but I can’t emphasize it enough so I’m going to say it again…
There’s a massive opportunity for designers to stand out by using Unicorn Studio.
But just like Screen Studio, this moment in time won’t last long…
Because it’s incredibly easy to make jaw-dropping visual effects with webGL and soon everyone is going to be doing it.
The first impression people have is “wow, how'd you do that? That's so unique!” But I know in the back of my head that was five minutes of work.
Unicorn Studio is such a cheat code that Tom Johnson wouldn’t even record this episode with me until after releasing the Basedash website 😆
Thankfully he finally shared his secret sauce 👇
🤝 WITH RAYCAST
For a long time now Raycast has been my portal to AI…
All it takes is a quick keyboard shortcut and all of the models are instantly at my finger tips

But the problem was… you had to be on a pro account.
Not anymore though because they recently announced that Raycast AI is available to everyone!
No subscription. No account needed. You even get access to all of their extensions…
I’ll put it this way… if I’m going to get a new computer the very first thing I install is Raycast. It is that good.
And you can try Raycast AI for free today just click the link 👇

Why I went video-first with my portfolio

I’ve received a lot of DMs about my 6 portfolio tips…
And one of the tactics that received the most heat was Patrick Morgan’s use of video in his portfolio.
So I asked him if I could share a behind-the-scenes of his thinking and how he brought the whole thing to life.
If you’re thinking about your portfolio right now then this is gold 👇

4 ways to future-proof yourself as a designer
Like many of you I’ve been thinking a lot about how AI is shifting the value proposition of design (and how we can successfully transition into this new era of product development).
So I want to share this article from a panel of product experts all about how you can remain indispensable in the world of AI.
They break it down into 4 buckets:
Embrace the strategic scope of design
Strengthen storytelling skills
Frame conversations around outcomes
Sharpen data-judgement skills to interpret AI outputs
Tbh that creates a pretty nice blueprint for me when evaluating potential guests 🤔
ICYMI Zach Leach definitely got me thinking on the data front and a bunch of people have raved about Chris Abad’s storytelling for senior designers.
Here’s the full article if you want to go deeper👇

Get to know the liquid glass design system

If you want to see how the sauce is made, Maria Hristoforova from the Human Interface team gave an inside look at the liquid glass design system.
“I go through every corner of our design system — the tiny rules, the big shifts, and how liquid glass is reshaping not just the visuals, but the very foundations and heuristics that hold it all together.”
It’s about as fun as 18 min gets 👇
🧃 INSPIRATION JUICE
3 things I saved this week
1️⃣ Visual Electric paper testimonials
One of my favorite products just dropped a banger of a new website.
I particularly enjoy this sticky note aesthetic. It’s not a new pattern but there’s something about the deep shadows and the dark background that creates a level of contrast that I appreciate. Feels more energetic than most implementations I see.

2️⃣ A+ website narrative

I’m going to give a disclaimer: my wrist got pretty tired scrolling this one 😅
But I’m still sharing the new Antimetal website because it’s one of the best narratives I’ve seen in a longgg time.
They immerse you in the problem in a beautiful way.
Not surprisingly the storytelling master played a role 📜
3️⃣ VisionOS widgets

One of the most underrated visual updates from WWDC are these VisionOS widgets.
You can almost imagine how they feel in your hand…
I grabbed a screenshot from this 29 second teaser video that is definitely worth watching 👀
How much did you enjoy this issue?Never hesitate to reply with feedback too :) |
