🤿 creating taste
+ thoughts on Claude Design

Brandon Jacoby is one of the designers who I’ve been trying to interview for over a year now and it finally happened :)
He was early Cash App, the first hire at PartyRound (which became Capital and had some of the freshest design I’ve ever seen), and most recently designed at X Twitter.
Our conversation is a deep dive into taste, being creative with AI, and how to thrive in a 0->1 environment.
Some highlights:
The types of designer who get most amplified by AI
What it takes to thrive while designing a 0→1 experience
How Brandon is positioning himself as a new independent
The difference between "seeing taste" and "creating taste"
What Nikita (X Head of Product) taught Brandon about onboarding
+ a lot more
👥 FEATURED RESOURCE
Last week I was showing someone how I'm using Inflight to include video walkthroughs + feedback requests in all of my Claude prototypes.
As soon as he saw how easy it was he said "wait stop" and immediately ran off the screen... 😄
A minute later he returned with his design lead and said "you gotta look at this".

Ever since I started designing in code, this new feedback flow has totally changed the way I share my work.
If you’re actively prototyping in code I’d love to show you and hear more about your process!
Want to grab a time to jam together?
🔗 FEATURED RESOURCES
Shader lab
![]() | Basement Studio released a free shader tool and it’s legit. Definitely bookmark this one. |
State of prototyping
![]() | Thank you if you were one of the 1,500 people who filled out the State of Prototyping Spring 2026 survey. I’ve been anticipating the results and they definitely don’t disappoint. The thing that stood out to me is how AI has effectively split the industry into thirds. |
Thoughts on Claude Design
![]() | Ever since Anthropic launched Claude Design on Friday the community has been drowning in think pieces. Ignore basically all of them tbh. Except this one by Sam Henri Gold. Not only is it spot on it’s also hilarious. |
🧃 INSPIRATION JUICE
3 things I saved this week
1️⃣ Block distracting apps animation
You ever see a design concept so clever you feel a bit of jealousy creeping up? Ya… me neither…

2️⃣ Vercel search/action menu
I’m paying attention to this pattern where search bars default to AI assistance if no results match. Seeing it in a lot of tools lately.

3️⃣ Line pattern background
I was thinking about this pattern the other day… it’s the first time I’ve seen someone use a diagonal line pattern to replace a simple gray background in a web app. Pretty unique stuff from Moe.

How much did you enjoy this issue?Never hesitate to reply with feedback too :) |
Thanks for reading! I'm working hard to bring you the best design resources on the planet 🫶
