+ 16 harsh truths for freelancers and agencies 👀

It doesn’t matter how good your designs are if they never get built…

So this episode breaks down specific tactics you can use to become a better storyteller and get people excited to build your ideas 👇

The insights from this episode come from some of the best designers I know:

🤝 JITTER

My favorite animation tool Jitter just had a game-changer of a release

They just dropped their first set of community templates created by some of the best designers and studios I know.

And get this… they’re all free 🤯

You don’t even have to download anything because Jitter is like Figma for animation design.

Just head to their new community page and find an animation that you love…

You can remix it in a single click and make your own with their intuitive editor

16 harsh truths for agencies and freelancers

Hunter Hammonds has sold $15,000,000+ in design projects in the last 4 years…

He recently shared some harsh truths on Twitter and I asked him to turn it into a little article so I could share it with you. If you’re pitching for design contracts then it’s a fun read 👇

Using AI to create on-brand illustrations

Remember when Erik Kennedy highlighted Lemonade in our web design show and tell?

Well I’ve been paying attention to them ever since and one of their designers Moty Weiss put together a great breakdown of how he uses AI to design brand-aligned illustrations.

2️⃣ Clever upgrade modal UI

Check out the clip at the top of the new Amie upgrade modal.

Pretty neat right? I’m constantly saving their designs and it’s a big reason why I interviewed their founder.

3️⃣ Lively dashboard dropdowns

I immediately saved this dashboard UI composition from Aarav. There are so many little visual details that are executed to perfection. For instance…

  • ☑️ Color contrast of the subtext

  • ☑️ Vertical rhythm to clearly indicate sections

  • ☑️ Note how the dropdowns widen as they open (vs. aligning to the rest of the content). This is because things appear larger as they get closer. So he
