journey to becoming an AI-native designer

Today's episode is with my friend Kris Puckett.

IMO his journey is the perfect example of what it looks like to lean into this moment in time with AI 👀

His curiosity and AI experiments are a big reason why he recently landed a new role as a design manager at Stripe.

So the focus of today’s episode is answering the question: what does it look like to be an AI-native designer today?

Some highlights:

  • Behind the scenes of Kris’s Epilogue app

  • How to create custom skills with Claude Code

  • How to start building personal systems with AI

  • How Kris taught Claude to be a metal shader expert

  • Building internal tools and workflows with AI at Stripe

  • Insights from Kris’s new course on how to think w/ Claude Code

  • + a lot more

🤝 WITH JITTER

Jitter just released Image to Video and it’s a pretty big deal.

All you have to do is upload an asset and Jitter will instantly generate a short video clip from it with the help of AI ✨

It’s an easy way to add motion and depth to static backgrounds, create little clips for brand visuals and make any scene feel more alive with subtle movement.

It’s super fun to play with and available today, just click the link to get started 👇

🔗 FEATURED RESOURCE

A collection of Soulful websites

“We've had quality, we've had craft. But I think what people are gonna be desperate for is more of that human side of things, right? They're gonna be longing for soul.”

Kris Puckett

That’s one of my favorite quotes from this week’s episode with Kris Puckett.

Right on queue, Flo Guo dropped a collection of soulful websites for inspiration. It’s definitely worth a bookmark 👇

Designing a slider for feeling

Here’s another design project that is dripping in soul…

Raja obsessed over the smallest detail of the new Ferrari UI design and ran with it in this exploration 👇

State of prototyping survey

The practice of design is changing rapidly.

So I’m particularly interested in the results for this latest UX Tools survey.

Take ~30s and fill it out will ya?

3 things I saved this week

1️⃣ Marker background fills

Visual languages like this make me smile :)

2️⃣ Wist Website

There’s not even one detail that stands out on the Wist website. It’s just good design top to bottom.

Definitely worth a scroll.

3️⃣ Whilst website

I saved this layout recently. Big fan of how the mockup breaks the frame of the circle. Also the background image subtly moves with your cursor which is a nice touch.
