🤿 systems thinking masterclass
+ free preview of UI Engineering 101 for designers

Systems thinking comes up a lot on Dive Club…
Just a couple of weeks ago Balint from Craft just listed it as the main skill he looks for in designers.
But what does it look like to be great at systems thinking?
This episode answers that question by highlighting stories from Notion, Anthropic, and more 👇
Includes insights from:
Ryo Lu (Head of Design at Cursor)
Joel Lewenstein (Head of Product Design at Anthropic)
Catt Small (Staff Designer at Dropbox)
🤝 FRAMER
For years I’ve been paying for third party website analytics but I can finally cancel those subscriptions because Framer just released their all-new analytics dashboard.
It’s built into every plan and it’s even fully GDPR compliant without the need for a cookie banner.

That way you can get a complete breakdown of how your site is performing directly into your dashboard.
It’s just another reason why I tell everyone to use Framer for their websites 👇

Watch Derek Briggs make the magic happen with Tailwind

The designers I find the most inspiring are the ones who are building their own ideas. So in 2024 I invested in my front end skills by enrolling in Derek Briggs and Mariana Castilho’s new course UI Engineering 101 for Designers.
It was so good I asked if I could share a little free preview with you today :)
So here’s an end-to-end walkthrough video showing how Derek implements the finer frontend details using Tailwind 👇

The path to design principal

If you enjoyed last week's episode with Anthony from Shopify and want to go even deeper into how you can lead as an individual contributor, then I highly recommend this Adobe article, Outlining the Path to Design Principle.
🧃 INSPIRATION JUICE
3 things I saved this week
1️⃣ Beautiful brand palette

This brand board stopped me in my tracks the other day. Not only are the colors beautiful, but I love the organic feel of the gradients. They almost feel planetary.
2️⃣ Inset lightning bolt

The entire Pika icons website is a thing of beauty, but my favorite part was definitely this inset lightning bolt icon.
I've recently become obsessed with patterns that feel like they are beneath the surface of a website, and this is one of my favorite executions yet.
3️⃣ Bento with metallic frame

It takes a lot for me to get excited about a Bento grid nowadays. But just when you think you've seen every implementation possible, somebody comes out with a concept like this 👀
The way the grid itself feels like it's framed with a metallic plate is pretty epic.
How much did you enjoy this issue?Never hesitate to reply with feedback too :) |
